The Manila International Auto Show, the country’s biggest automotive car show, will be opening its gates this April 7. Among other new vehicles set to be introduced in the Philippine market at MIAS, one of the anticipated launches is the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.

The 2016 Cruze is the second generation of this Chevrolet sedan, making its world debut in the US late last year. And ever since, Chevrolet Philippines has been leaking few details on the local variants’ specs and content, ostensibly to build hype around their product.

The new Cruze features a significantly rejuvenated design, adorning a more European character, replacing the quintessential American appearance of its predecessor. As a result, the face now gets a swooping nose and sleeker headlamps, the latter fitted with projectors and DRLs. The company’s trademark split front grille is now more delineated. The side profile showcases a steeply sloping roofline, 5-spoke alloys, and chrome inserts bordering the side “glasshouse”. The rear continues the European design theme, with split taillights, bulged bumpers with black inserts, a shark fin antenna, and a seamlessly integrated boot lid spoiler.

Specification related information has been kept secured and will only be unveiled at the Manila International Auto Show launch event. But the one mill which is confirmed to come loaded in the new Chevy Cruze is the 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder turbodiesel, rated at 153 hp and 240 Nm of torque.

It remains to be seen at what price point will Chevrolet Ph launch the 2016 Cruze, as competitors like the Toyota Corolla Altis and Honda Civic have managed to cap a large pie of the market. Nevertheless, the all-new Cruze is likely to be a crowd puller for Chevrolet Ph’s exhibit at the 2016 MIAS.
